LibGuides for Social Justice: Transformative or Transactional?
Presented by
- Stephanie Porrata (Ohio State University)
Description
The use of the LibGuides platform to provide access to information and resources outside the scope of traditional subject and course guides is a direct example of how libraries and librarians are using their tools to become advocates and allies for change. In this poster presentation, I explore LibGuides that were created in conversation with the Black Lives Matter, anti-racism movements and police brutality dialogues happening in our country, highlighting the need to think critically about our motivations and implementations of social justice guides.
